Harts is excited to announce that it has expanded its tax department as part of a strategic move to grow its business by providing specialist tax advice to entrepreneurial businesses and individuals in the East Cheshire and South Manchester area.
The senior appointments of Chris O’Hara, John Norman and Laura Hutchinson strengthen the existing team in the areas of employment taxes, tax risk management and inheritance tax planning.
Chris is a well-renowned tax adviser who has specialised in providing proven employment tax solutions to businesses for the last 16 years. During that time Chris has advised numerous businesses, from startups to large multinationals with regard to their PAYE/NIC obligations. All of Chris’ experience has been gained working for Big 4 and top tier firms. Prior to joining the accountancy profession in 1996, Chris spent nine years working for the Inland Revenue.
Of particular interest to Chris is the provision of bespoke employee cost management solutions to businesses, helping them to reduce their employment costs.

John specialises in dealing with all manner of enquiries and investigations by HMRC, from Local Tax District matters through to the most serious fraud cases. Formerly an Inspector of Taxes, John has spent 22 years working for leading accountancy firms, including KPMG and BDO. John also helps businesses and individuals identify and manage their tax risks.
Laura is an acknowledged expert in complex trust and inheritance tax planning, having provided specialist tax advice to high net worth individuals for the past 15 years. Her areas of expertise include inheritance tax planning, advice on the creation and administration of trusts; both UK and offshore, the interaction of UK taxes with foreign taxes on overseas properties, and provision of advice to non-UK domiciled clients.
