We would like to make you aware of a number of recent changes to the government’s coronavirus business support schemes.
Local Authority Grants Eligibility Check for Coronavirus Financial Support
The government website now has a facility for you, to be able to answer some basic questions in order to tailor the support packages available for your business. It is worth taking a few minutes to complete this in order to ensure you have accessed all support. Please note the question regarding self-employment relates to businesses operating as a sole trader or partnership, not a limited company.
Local Authority Grants
Please note there are various grants that are being issued by local authorities. One of the latest grants announced relates to closed businesses, this is explained in more detail via the link below. We have provided two local authorities’ website links for you to be able to apply, dependent on the area your business operates.
Self assessment time to pay
The deadline for submission of self-assessment tax returns is fast approaching. Although the deadline for submission has not been extended, late submission penalties have now been relaxed. There is a time to pay facility that can be applied for online. If your liability is below £30,000, you may be able to use this facility to pay in monthly instalments. If the liability is above you will need to contact HMRC directly to discuss this further on 0300 2003822.
It is important to ensure you submit your tax return and then you can apply for a time to pay facility, which must be requested within 60 days of the 31st January.
